BrowZine: A Journal Bookshelf for Your Tablet!

[This is a guest post by W&M Arts Librarian Kathleen DeLaurenti.]

Have you ever wished you could have one-click access to you favorite journals on your tablet? With BrowZine, a great new mobile service provided through Swem Library, now you can do just that!

This is an example of what BrowZine looks like on an iPad.

The BrowZine app is available free for tablets with access to the Apple iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon Kindle app stores. That means you can use BrowZine on all versions of the iPad and iPad Mini running iOS 5.1 or later, and on Android tablets running Android 4.0 or later, including the Google Nexus 7 or 10, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can log in with your W&M User ID and start adding your favorite journals to your bookshelf!

Currently, W&M users can keep track of more than 10,000  journals that Swem subscribes to through the app. You can organize your titles on shelves based on discipline, subject area, or by priority reading. In addition to Swem subscriptions, you can also follow important Open Access journals in your discipline.

Once you have your favorite journals on the shelf, you can read the latest issue, save articles, and share articles with colleagues all from within the app.

The service is already working on expanding their list of participating publishers. To see if your favorite publisher is already on board, you can check out BrowZine’s Participating Publisher List.

BrowZine is currently working on versions of iPhone and Android smart phones.
